I think the friendships in Much Ado About Nothing are stronger than the relationships. Hero and Claudio didnt talk at all, they only liked each others sexuality, not personality. Beatrice and Benedict do not have a good relationship either. They started off hating each other but at the end they were in love. Beatrice was there for Hero when Claudio embarassed her at the wedding. She went along with the whole plan that Hero was dead when she actually wasnt. She even asked Benedict to kill Claudio if he really loved her. Being there for a friend and not fighting with them is stronger then being with someone in a relationship and fighting with them all the time. Friends are supposed to be there for one another, like Beatrice is for Hero.

  2. j.f. which is stronger

In Much Ado About Nothing you can argue both ways of which relationships are stronger. The friendships or the romances. I believe that they are both stronger and weaker between different people. For example, I feel that Benedicks romance relationship is stronger than his friendship with Claudio. Benedick and Claudio were soposed to be be very good friends, but when Beatrice asked Benedick to kill Claudio he agreed. He would not have done that if there friendship was stronger than his feelings for Beatrice. On the other hand I fell Claudio’s friendship with Don Pedro is stronger than his romance relationship with Hero. I feel this way because he proclaimed that he loved Hero. But when don Pedro’s brother told him that hero was unfaithful he just believed him. Claudio never stopped to question whether or not the person he supposedly loved so much would be unfaithful. I also thin this because when Don Pedro told him to slander her name in front of everyone; he did it with no regret.

In the play "Much Ado About Nothing" by William Shakespeare, the friendships between the characters are stronger than the romance relationships. For example, Claudio and Don Pedro's relationship is stronger than Claudio’s and Hero's Romance relationship. If Claudio and Hero's relationship was stronger then he would want to believe Hero over Don John. Instead he believed Don John and not Hero. Beatrice can be used as another example that friendship is stronger than romance relationships. Beatrice's and Hero's relationship is stronger than Beatrice's and Benedick’s romance relationship. That is why Beatrice was willing to believe the things Hero said about Benedick loving her. Another point is Benedick, the Prince, and Claudio. Their friendship is stronger than Beatrice’s and Benedick’s romance relationship. Benedick was so willing to believe that Beatrice loved him because he heard it from Claudio’s and the Princes mouth. As you can see, the friendship relationships are stronger then the romance relationships. It may look like the other way around, but I all reality friendships are stronger.

In the play "Much Ado About Nothing" by William Shakespeare the friendship between the majority of the characters is/was stronger than the romance relationships. For example, the friendship bond Claudio and Don Pedro made once they met was much more powerful than Claudio's and Hero's romantic relationship. From what it appeared Claudio was more willing to believe or hang around his friend Don Pedro rather than his own fiancé Hero. Now if romance was stronger here then Claudio wouldn't be so willing to believe the lies from the treacherous Don John. That's only one very vividly clear example of how the friendships within this here play are stronger than romantic ones. Now this also applies to other characters within the play as well. Beatrice can be used as another example. Beatrice's bond with her cousin Hero was/is stronger than that of her small romantic relationship with that of Benedick. That is why Beatrice was yet so willing to believe the words spoken by her cousin about Benedick's love her. Dogberry and Verges can be added here too. As it appears the bond they have as friends are yet so strong they do just about everything together. Even though there are more characters with a more superior friendship than romantic, the point was very well proven here. In conclusion, from the play Much Ado About Nothing the friendship relationships are more superior to that of romantic ones, though it appeared the romance relationships were thus more powerful, in all actuality the friendships are.

In the novel Much Ado About Nothing, by Shakespeare, romances and friendships are the main things discussed. In my opinion romances are alot stronger than friendships. For example, Benedick agreed to challenge his best friend Claudio just because the love of his life Beatrice asked him to. This shows how love is more important than friendship. I also think that romances are stronger because that's what the whole novel is about. People trying to get married is basically what happens throughout the play. Friendship also takes part in the play but it's not as important as the romances. If there were no romances, there would be no comflicts. For example, if Benedick didn't love Beatrice, he wouldn't have challenged Claudio for her. This shows how romances are much stronger and more important than friendships in the play.

  6. Romance or Friendships EAB

    16th of May 2008

Throughout "Much Ado About Nothing" there were many relationships, both romantic and friendly. At times in the story both of which fail and succeed in many ways. As to which ones were stronger; that depends on the individual. Certain individuals romantic relationships stemed from a freindship and turned out rather steady. One case of a romantic relationship failing is Claudio and Hero. There was no trust established as friends before romance, so the relationship quickly failed. Beatrice and Benedick, even though thir previous romance failed, they now knew each other. Since they know and understand each other, they will have a stronger relationship. The friendships in this story are very peculiar, at to our society.I would say they were barely even friends. In the beginning hero was tricked into liking Claudio. Right after that Benedick and Beatrice are both tricked into believing that the other is "in love" with them. These friendships don't sound very strong, but niehter do the romances. If one had to be chose as stronger though, it would be the romances.

I believe that it depends on who the people are in the relationship. For example, Hero and Beatrice had a strong friendship. Even though they were cousins they seemed to be best friends as well. On the other hand the Prince, Claudio, and Benedick had a strong friendship until the romances got in the way. It seemed that when Claudio declared his love for Hero, Benedick got angry because they were suppose to all be bachelors together. Also, Benedick chose his romance with Beatrice over his friendship with Claudio by being willing to kill him fr her love. Hero and Claudio's romance changed his friendship with the Prince and Benedick. Benedick kind of broke off from the friendship. When him and Beatrice declared their love for each other Benedick broke off even more. I believe that when it comes to friendships, Hero's and Beatrice's was the strongest. And when it comes to romances, Benedick's and Beatrice's was the strongest.

In my opinion of "Much Ado About" Nothing the romances were stronger than the friendships. The friendships in this story come and go depending on the situations. One situation that I think that made a friendship weak was when Claudio confronted Hero at the wedding and Benedick was mostly on Hero's side because of his relationship with Beatrice. Another example that romances are stronger is when in the end of the story how Claudio ended up getting back together with Hero because he loved her. Claudio and Don Jon's friendship ended because Don Jon lied about everything. So in the end Claudio picked the one he loved over a friendship.

I think the romance relationships are stronger than the frienship. I think that because of Benedick and Beatick. Benedick gave up his friendship with Claudio, pretty much to be with Beatrice. That shows his romance relationship was stronger with Beatrice than his friendship with Claudio. Another reason why I think the romance relationship is stronger because is when Claudio first met Hero he wanted to be with her the most. That shows he would ditch his friends for Hero. That meens he had a stronger romantic relationship with Hero than a friendship with his friends the Prince and Claudio.

The Relationships that seemed stronger in the book were the friendships.Everyone in the book seemed to live off of hear say. They would even listen to their friends over their loved ones. When something bad happened the friends stuck it out. These are some reasons for why the friendships are stronger than the relationships. One example is the wedding situation. When it got down to it the friends split the lovers apart. They began to fight and for no reason.Which shows that the friendships are stronger than the relationships.

The romances seem to be stronger than the friendships. I have come to this conclusion because in order to show his love for Beatrice,Benedick must challenge Claudio to a duel. At first Benedick says no, but after a while he gives in. He wants to show Beatrice that he really has feelings for her. If you had asked me before I read the story i would have sayed that friendships are stronger. I would have thought this because friends are important to everyone.

I believe that relationships are stronger than frienships. Relationships are stronger because you are with the person you love. In return you are loved by them. As what happened with Benedick and Beatrice. Also iin a relationship, it is easer to talk about certain things than it is to talk with a friend about. In a relationship, if you are with the person you love, they will always be there for you. Just as when Benedik was willing to do what Beatrice told him so she would stay in love with him. Frienships may not always be as strong because friends, that may be more important. After many years, friends may lose contact with each other. This happened when Don John lost touch with his brother and the good people he was with. But in a relationship you always know where the other one is and you never lose sight of them. Such as when Claudio needed to know that his wife, Hero, was alright. Never leave the one you like for the one you love, because the one you like will leave you for the one they love.

I think the romances are stronger because they stay through till the end. They do get into fights, but their feelings for each other don't change. Like when Claudio thought Hero was cheating on him he got mad and called her a common stale, but when he found out the truth he went right back to his original feelings and felt horrible. I don't think that the friendships stayed strong because some of the friendships that were really tight in the beginning started to break up in the end. Like Claudio and Benedick, they were close and didn't fight in the beginning, but what Claudio did to Hero, Benedick got mad and they weren't friends. But in the end they made up and were friends again. Thats why I think the romances were stronger than the friendships.

In "Much Ado About NOthing", by William Shakespeare, I think the romances are stronger than the friendships. In the story the romances kept getting stronger while the relationships were getting weaker. In the story the friendships were getting weaker because of the romances. One of the friendships that got weaker because of the romances was Benedick's with the Prince and Claudio. This friendship weakened because of his romance with Beatrice. When Beatrice and Benedick finally got together, Beatrice asked Benedick to kill Claudio. At first he said no because he was friends with Claudio. But, in the end romance became stronger and and said he would. Another romance that over powered friendship was Claudio's and Hero's. Even though he said all of that rude stuff about her, he stilled married her. Then his friendship with Don John ended because of the trick he played on eveyone. Those are reasons why romances are stronger than friendships.

I think that the relationships were stronger. I think that because all the people are turning on each other. But the people that are in love with each other keep their relationships till the end of the story. An example that romance was stronger than freindship in "Much Ado About Nothin" is that at the end Claudio still married Hero, and they found out that Don Jonh try to lie because he doesn't like Claudio. Also you can see that Claudio choose Hero which is the one he loves over Don Jonh a friend.

In Much Ado About Nothing i think that relationships are stronger than friendships when Hero was slandered her cousin Beatrice told Benedick to kill his best friend Claudio and he agreed.Claudio went againsst what his friends wanted him to do and asked Hero for her hand in marriage.Benedick challenged his best friend to a challenge just to show that he loved Beatrice. Beatrice says that no man is good enough for her but then she falls in love with Benedick by telling her that he loved her. Love is stronger than friendship because even though Hero is Slandered by Claudio they still are in love.

I believe that the relationships are stronger than the friendships. I believe that because Benedick showed that he would choose Beatrice over his friends. When Beatrice told him to challenge Claudio he said okay. If the friendships had been stronger, Benedick would have refused no matter what because he is friends with Claudio. If the friendships were stronger, the friends would act like friends, and not lie to each other. Like Don John did to Claudio to ruin his relationship with Hero. If they were all really friends, they would be happy for whoever he is with. That is why i think relationships are stronger than frienships.

  20. romance vs. friendship

Are romantic relationships stronger then friendships? in shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, friendships seems to be the better role. When don john tells his brother Hero is sleeping around, Claudio sides with his friend instead of romance. Another example why friendship is stronger then romance is when the prince woos Hero. Even though Don John is not a true friend to Claudio, Claudio still takes his word. That explains why friendship is stronger then romance msot of the times. There are times when romance over powers friendship.

  21. Romances vs Friendships

    16th of May 2008

I beleive Romances and Friends ships are the same in power up to a point. IF you have known a friend a long time you are very loyal to each other. Than again a romance is equally just as powerful. You will do almost anything for your wife/husband like you would a best friend. Benedict had to make a hard decision. He had to choose between his best friend and the woman he loves. He chose the woman over his friend. You can always have fun with a friend but it is different with a pratner. You both have different ideas about what is fun and what is not fun.

Claudio believed Don John and didn't trust Don Pedro who is his friend, Claudio got mad at Don Pedro until Don Pedro told him that he wooed Hero for him.

  24. K.G - Friendships are greater than romantic

    7th of May 2008

In, “Much Ado About Nothing,” by William Shakespeare, there are many romantic relationships and friendships between all of the characters. Both romantic relationships and friendships both prove to be strong but I think friendships are stronger in, “Much Ado About Nothing.” Friendships are stronger in, “Much Ado About Nothing,” because a couple of the romantic relationships ended up with a couple of people getting hurt throughout the play. I think friendships are stronger than the romantic relationships because there are a couple of instances where there was people getting hurt or going to get hurt in the romantic relationships. In the romantic relationship between Claudio and Hero, Hero ends up getting hurt at the wedding. Claudio got deceived and thought Hero was unfaithful to him. If Claudio loved Hero he would’ve asked Hero instead of going off of what Don John told him. Hero was also forced to fake her death after the wedding, by her father, Leanato. Also, in the relationship between Benedict and Beatrice, Beatrice wants Benedict to kill Claudio to ensure that he really loves her. Don Pedro helps out Claudio in the beginning of the story because he is a good friend. He disguises himself as Claudio to get Hero to love him, and he is successful. In, “Much Ado About Nothing,” by William Shakespeare, romantic relationships and friendships are both strong between all of the characters. Friendships are stronger than romantic relationships though because of some of the bad things that happened in this play due to the romantic relationships.

  25. Relationships

    7th of May 2008

In the play Much Ado About Nothing there are many relationships. There are romantic relationships and friendsships. There is a constant battle between these two relationships to be dominant. There are many friendships in Much Ado About Nothing. The friendships are solid and true. Each friendship in the play contains caring and compassionate members. The friendships are not deceptive or jealous. There are also romantic relationships in the play. Unlike the friendsships the romantic relationships struggle throughout the play. The romantic relationships in this play were selfish and angry. The members in the relationships are unforgiving and quick to judge. One example of this is how claudio was very judgemental of Hero. He was very quick to judge her character. This shows how the romantic relationships were weak in this play. The friendships in this play are easly the stronger relationship. They are more understanding and trustworthy. Therefore my view of the stronger relationship is the friendships.

  26. Both

    7th of May 2008

Both relationships are stronger, but at different times. one time when Romantic is stronger is when Beatrice asks Benedick to challenge Claudio and says that if he doesn't then he doesn't really love her and Benedick says yes. A time when friendship is stronger is when Claudio and Don Pedro think that Don John is their friend and they believe him over Hero's truth.

  27. Love or Friendship, Which is stronger? (full version)

    7th of May 2008

In Much Ado About Nothing there were many relationships taking place and friends setting eachother up with their soul mates. But among the happiness there were also lies and betrayal a foot. And with all the chaos of it all there was a happy ending. But if i were to say which of the relationships were stronger, i wound say that freindships held stronger. The reason that i believe this is because Claudio was so quick to accuse Hero of being unfaithful that he didn't even ask her about it in private, instead he just jumped the gun and left her at the alter in front of everybody. Which dosen't sound like to great of a relationship. And the only sign of the of a weakend strength in friendship was when Benedict chalenged Claudio, but that was in all the confusion and frenzy of the "death of Hero.

  28. Bros before Hoes

    7th of May 2008

I find that the friendships in this play are stronger than the romantic relationships in the play. The relationships are based off of a few days of knowing each other. Whereas the friendships are based off of being through war, and more, together. There is a much stronger bond within the friendships, as opposed to relationships.

  29. Love Versus Friendship

    7th of May 2008

In Much Ado About Nothing the relationship is stronger. Like as for Benedick who choose his love for Beatrice to go against his friend Claudio and the Prince. As Benedick's romance is stronger than his fiendship he had with Claudio and the Prince. Which for he had a longer friendship with Claudio and The Prince before he even knew he had a romance with Beatrice. As for Claudio and The Prince their friendship never changed from the begining to the end. Even for Claudio that has fallen in love at first sight. Believing that romance could be stronger than friendship. The partner could make you forget about your friendships that you had. Even though friendship is could have been longer than the romance, however, romance is something that you want to keep forever. Though even friendship would always be there there is only one special romance. As for Benedick choosing his love for Beatrice after just finding out he agreed to go against his friends to make his Beatrice happy.

  30. My Response

    7th of May 2008

In the book "Much Ado About Nothing", by William Shakespeare, there are many relationships. In the play, both romantic relations and friendships play a big part. In my opinion, the friendships occur to be more stronger in the play. One reason why the friendships are stronger in "Much Ado About Nothing" is because Beatrice stuck by Hero's side after Claudio accused her of cheating. In the book Beatrice states,"No, truly not, although until last night I have this twelvemonth been her bedfellow"(line 157-158, pg. 133). She also states,"O, on my soul, my cousin is belied"(line 155, pg. 133). This shows that Beatrice believed that Hero didn't cheat after Claudio had claimed that he had seen her cheatinhg. Also, without the friendships, there woundn't be any romantic relations.

  31. Friendship vs Romantic relationships

    7th of May 2008

The book Much Ado About Nothing is a shakespearian play about a group of people and their relationships, (whether good or bad, with eachother. The romantic relationships play a major roll in the events that happen in the play. The friendships, or lack there of also definetly cause the situations that occur throughout the story. Without emotion people or characters do not take action. Romantic relationships play a big roll because if Claudio had not fallen in love with Hero most of the events in the story would not have happened. Another example would be if Benedict and Beatrice did not express their love for eachother. Beatrice would have never asked Benedict to duel Claudio, hence losing a even that takes place in the play. Friendships also play a major roll in how the story plays out. For example, if don John had had friendships with some of the characters such as Claudi, he would have not caused all the problems he did. Without Don John causing the problems that he did, 75 percent of the story would not exist. No action and reaction by any of the characters, it is cause and effect: action and reaction. Just as it is in real life. What someone does to us or how someone makes us feel causes us to react in a certain way, whether it be good or bad.

  32. Romantic relationship

    7th of May 2008

In the play "Much Ado About Nothing" by William Shakespeare, I feel that romantic is the strongest relationships. I think this because in mostly ever scene, someone confesses their love. Yeah, there is friendship but not so much. For example, it says "In my my eye she is the sweetest lady that ever i loooked on"(Act1 Sc.1 lines 183-184) This tells you that Claudio had fallen in love with Herpo at first sight. Not knowing one another so well, Claudio and Hero get married. Anotehr reason why this is strongly a romantic relationships is because,Benedick and Beatrice can't stand one another and they end up together. When Hero and Claudio don't get married, Claudio marries the niece of Leonato. Now if I can recall it takes awhile to cope a lose. If you love someone go after them. At least give them a second chance. In conclusion this tells you why I think the play has a strong roamntic relationship than a friendship.

  33. Romance v Friendship

I think that friendship is the stronger type of relationship in Much Ado About Nothing. I believe this becuase there was only one romantic relationship that was actual romance. This was between Beatrice and Benedick. Even though they would make fun of eac other they really loved each other. Hero and Claudio said that they were in love but when told that he could marry Leonato' niece he jumped at the chance, even though he had just heard that Hero had just "died". Friendship was stronger because everything that the Prince did in the stroywas to help his friends. He was the reason that Claudio and Hero were able to marry. He was also the cause of the marriage of Beatrice and Benedick. Even though that he challenged Claudio, Benedic and Claudio were still friends at the end of the story.

In the book Much Ado About Nothing there are friendship and romatic relationships. They both have there own strong characteristics. It's a very debatable question becasuse throughout the book there are love hate relationships. I think that friendship is the stronger relationship. The reason why I think frienship is the stronger relationship is because there are more friendships in the book than romantic ones. There are some romatic relationships but I just feel like the friendship ones are stronger. One friendship in the book is Beatrice and Hero. ALthough they are cousins they are alsp like best friends. When Claudio falsey accused Hero of cheating Beatrice knew that she didn't. she was being a good friend by sticking up for her. Beatrice states, "O, on my soul, my cousin is belied." (pg. 133 line 155) Beatrice is saying that Hero did not sleep with any other man. She knows that Hero was telling the truth.

In the play I think relationships are stronger than friendships. In the beginning of the play Claudio tells his friends that he is onlove with Hero. His friends laugh and make fun of him besides the Prince who offers to help him get Hero. Claudio would do anything to get Hero's love. Benedick and Beatrice's love is very strong even though they don't like to show it. Beatrice tells Benedick to kill Claudio because he made a fool of Hero infront of the whole wedding. Benedick agreed to kill one of his closest friends for Beatrice's love. Therefore relationships are stronger than friendships.

  42. Family VS Family

Basicly, all your friends you think to be just like family and if you were ever to fall in love with someone which could mess up with a few of your friends then it's obviosly going to be a hard decision but its always better to stay with friends in turms of the long run. Also when Bennedick decides to go with love he's deciding to leave behind Claudio and Don Pedro, love clouds his mind and lets him foolishly agree to chalenging claudio!.

it is the hardest thing the charecter bennadick has to do in the whole play i personly think he madfe the right descion as his love for beatrice was much stronger than his friendship or claudio

  44. Love and marriage

There is two sides to love and marriage; a negative and positive side. The play shows us both of these contrasts. For example when Beatrice asks Benedick to 'Kill Claudio.' Have you realised this yet???

  45. Benedick chooses...

In the play Benedick chooses to stay with Beatrice and help Hero rather than follow his two best friends out of the chapel. That suggests that his love for Beatrice is stronger than his friendships with Claudio and Don Pedro.
